Price List Tracking (Beta)

Record the prices customers actually pay when they come from Shopify catalogs and price lists, so your 30-day lowest price stays accurate.

The problem it solves

Omnibus Owl normally records a new price when a product's price changes. Many stores set their market prices somewhere else: in catalogs with their own price lists. For example, one market might have a Standard, a Competitive and a Promotion price list.

When several catalogs in a market give the same product a price, Shopify charges the lowest one. Changing a price list doesn't change the product's own price, so without this feature those prices never reach your price history. The storefront could then show a "lowest price in the last 30 days" that's higher than the price you're actually selling at.

How it works

When enabled, Omnibus Owl checks every 3 hours:

  • It reads, for every tracked variant and every country in your active markets, the price Shopify currently charges. That already includes your catalogs and price lists, and it's the same price shown as Current price on the Lowest Price page.

  • If that price differs from the variant's last recorded price in any country, it adds a new entry to the price history.

  • If nothing changed, nothing is written.

The first check runs as soon as you save the setting turned on, so data starts building up straight away. After that, checks run every 3 hours. The settings card shows when the last check finished and how many prices it recorded.

Products you excluded under Price tracking (Draft or Archived products) are skipped here as well.

Price List Tracking only records price history. It does not fire the Shopify Flow price drop/increase triggers, Fresh Drop Tagging or Auto Compare At Price. Those keep reacting to changes of the product's own price.

Good to know

  • Checks every 3 hours. A price list that's active for less than 3 hours may fall between two checks and not be recorded.

  • Automatic discounts. While a discount recorded by Native Discount Tracking is active on a variant, that variant is skipped. Price list changes made in the meantime are recorded once the discount ends.

  • New variants. A variant gets its first price history entry the usual way, when it's created or its price is first saved. Price List Tracking then keeps it up to date.

  • B2B. Catalogs assigned to B2B company locations are not covered. Only prices that apply to everyone in a market are recorded.

  • Turning it off stops the checks. Prices already recorded stay in the history, because they are real prices your customers paid.

  • Earlier prices. To fill in prices from before you turned the feature on, use Bulk import & export.
