Product Safety (GPSR)
Show the manufacturer, EU responsible person and safety information on your product pages, as required by the EU General Product Safety Regulation.
The EU General Product Safety Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2023/988, in force since 13 December 2024) requires every online offer to show, before purchase:
the manufacturer's name, postal address and email address;
a responsible person in the EU (name, address, email) whenever the manufacturer is based outside the EU/EEA;
something that identifies the product (type, model, batch or serial number);
any warnings or safety information, in a language your customers understand.
Product Safety (GPSR) in Omnibus Owl keeps that information in one place, tells you which products are still missing it, and shows it on your product pages through a theme block.

Everything stays on your store if you uninstall the app. The definitions are created the first time you open the page.
The Products tab
The page opens on an audit of your active products:
Coverage — the share of products with complete information, and the Turn on / Turn off switch for the storefront block.
Needs attention — how many products have no manufacturer, have a non-EU manufacturer without a responsible person (both required), or have no safety information (recommended — only needed where warnings apply). Click a row to filter the table.
App Blocks Status — the same theme check as on the other feature pages: pick a theme, see whether the Product Safety block is Installed or Not Installed, and click Install to open the theme editor with the block ready to place. Installation guide in the card header opens the setup steps.
Below is the product table. Filter by issue or vendor, search by title, then:
select products and choose Assign manufacturer / responsible person to set them in bulk. By default only products without a value are changed; tick Overwrite existing assignments to replace them.
click Edit on a row to set the manufacturer, responsible person, product identification and safety text for one product.
A product counts as complete when it has a manufacturer and — if that manufacturer is based outside the EU/EEA — a responsible person. Missing safety information, or safety information that isn't translated into every published storefront language, is flagged as recommended rather than blocking.
Safety information in every language
Warnings must be in a language your customers understand. If your store has more than one published language, the Safety information field in the Edit dialog shows a language switcher: the primary language is the text itself, the other languages are its translations. A dot after a language code means it has no text yet, and the table shows Not translated · DE FR until every language is filled in.
Translations are stored as regular Shopify metafield translations — the same ones Translate & Adapt and other translation apps read and write — so you can also translate them there, and the storefront block always shows the text for the shopper's language, falling back to the primary language.
Manufacturers & responsible persons
Add each manufacturer once with name, street address, postal code, city, country and email (phone and website are optional). The country decides whether a responsible person is needed: manufacturers based in the EU/EEA don't need one; every other manufacturer does.
A responsible person can be an EU importer, an authorised representative or a fulfilment service provider established in the EU. Add them in the second list, then assign them to the products of non-EU manufacturers.
Each entry shows on how many products it is used (as of the last audit). Deleting an entry leaves those products without a value until you reassign them.
Settings
Show Product Safety block
Off
The master switch for the storefront block. Also switchable from the Products tab and the installation guide.
Fields to show
All on
Manufacturer, responsible person, product identification, safety information, legal note.
Collapsible section
On
Show the block as a collapsed "Product safety" section the shopper can open. Off: always open with a heading.
Hide block when information is incomplete
On
Products without a manufacturer show nothing instead of a half-filled block.
Languages
The block prints five labels and a one-line legal note. Edit them per storefront language in the Languages tab; new languages start from the English text. Your own safety text is translated per product in the Edit dialog (see above).
Adding the block to your theme
Open the installation guide and tick Product Safety (GPSR).
Add at least one manufacturer.
Click Enable next to Product Safety block added to product page — it opens the theme editor with the block ready to place in your product template — then Verify.
Turn on the storefront display and assign your products.
In the theme editor you can set the block's padding, font size, text and divider colours. In the editor's preview the block always shows, with sample data when the product has none, so you can style it before your data is complete.
