Auto Compare At Price

Automatically set and clear the strikethrough "compare at" price when your prices change — with a built-in anti-fake-sale guardrail.

Auto Compare At Price manages Shopify's strikethrough "was" price for you. When a variant's price drops, the app can automatically set the compare-at price to the previous higher price, producing a visible strikethrough on your storefront — with zero manual work.

Open Tools in the app menu and turn it on from its card, or click Configure to adjust the options below. It's off by default.

How it works

  • On a price drop: Omnibus Owl sets the variant's compare-at price to the previous (higher) price, so shoppers see the old price struck through next to the new one.

  • On a price increase (optional cleanup): if the new price is now equal to or above the existing compare-at price, the app clears the stale compare-at price so you never show a nonsensical "discount." This is controlled by the Auto-clear compare at price on price increase toggle.

The anti-fake-sale guardrail

The setting Minimum days at higher price protects you from accidentally faking a reference price:

  • Set it to, say, 7, and the app will only set a compare-at price if the higher price was genuinely in effect for at least 7 days.

  • If the product only briefly held the higher price, the app skips setting compare-at — so you don't advertise a "was" price the product never really had.

  • Set it to 0 to disable the guardrail (compare-at is set on every price drop). The app shows an in-app notice when the guardrail is off.

Example

  1. A jacket sells at €120 for three weeks.

  2. You drop the price to €89.

  3. With Auto Compare At Price on and the guardrail at 7 days, the app sets compare-at to €120 → shoppers see €120 €89.

  4. Later you raise the price back to €120. With cleanup on, the app clears the compare-at price automatically.
