Quickstart
From install to a measurably better catalogue in about ten minutes.
This walkthrough fixes the single highest-impact problem in most catalogues — products with no description — and shows you the pattern every other fix follows.
1. See where you stand
Open the Dashboard. The GEO Score tab shows you a summary of your products and a list of improvements you can make.

Don't worry if the score looks low. A catalogue that has never been audited typically lands in Poor or Needs work, mostly because Shopify's category field and the SEO fields are empty by default.
2. Open the audit
Go to Products. Each tab across the top is one check, with a count of how many products fail it.
Click Descriptions. Inside the tab there are three presets:
Empty — products with no description at all
Short — products with a description under 100 characters
All — every product, so you can rewrite copy that isn't technically failing
Start with Empty.
📸 Screenshot needed — the Products audit page on the Descriptions tab, Empty preset selected, showing the check tabs with counts.
3. Pick a handful of products
Tick 5–10 products in the list. Start small — you want to see what the AI produces for your catalogue before you turn it loose on a thousand products.
4. Generate
Click Suggest Selected. Product Pelican sends each product's data to the AI and drafts a description for it.
Each product now shows its suggested description with a checkbox next to it. Nothing has been written to Shopify yet.
Read a few. Edit any of them inline if you want to adjust wording.
Untick anything you don't want.
Click Show thinking on a suggestion to see the reasoning behind it — useful when a result surprises you.

5. Apply
Click Apply on an individual product, or Accept Selected to write every ticked suggestion at once. You will be asked to confirm before anything bulk-writes.
The descriptions are now saved on your Shopify products. Refresh the audit and the Empty count has dropped.
6. Watch the score move
Go to GEO Score. Every product you just fixed has gained points on the Description pillar, and your store average has risen.
Scores are snapshotted once a day, so the trend chart and the dashboard's 30-day delta will start showing the improvement from tomorrow. The score itself updates immediately.
The pattern
Every check works the same way:
Open the tab.
Filter or select the products you want.
Suggest Selected.
Review, edit, untick anything wrong.
Accept Selected.
Once you trust the output, work through the checks roughly in this order — this is descending order of impact on the GEO score:
1
No Description
Worth 20% of the score, and the biggest signal to AI crawlers
2
Titles
Another 20%, and the first thing any system reads
3
No Category
15%, and it gates category attributes as well
4
Missing Category Attributes
15%, and impossible to fill until the category is set
5
Images and alt text
15%
6
Missing SKUs / Zero Price
15%, and usually a real operational bug worth knowing about
7
SEO title and meta description
Not scored, but directly affects how you appear in search
