Store credit reminders
Email customers about store credit they haven't spent — before it expires, or a while after it was issued.
Store credit only drives repeat purchases when customers remember they have it. The Store Credit Reminders automation emails customers about unused credit — most commonly right before it expires — using the email template you design in Email templates.
Create one from Automations → Add automation → Store Credit Reminders.
Who gets a reminder
Each run finds customers whose store credit matches your trigger:
Store credit is expiring soon — customers whose credit expires exactly the chosen number of days after the run. Pair it with a daily repeat so every customer is caught as their credit approaches expiry: with "30 days before expiry" and a daily schedule, everyone gets exactly one reminder, 30 days out.
Store credit was issued a while ago — customers whose most recent credit landed within a window. Use a rolling window (e.g. from 61 to 60 days ago, repeated daily) for an evergreen "you still have credit" nudge, or a fixed date range for a one-off campaign.
Two more filters apply on top of the trigger:
Minimum balance — skip customers below a chosen balance, so reminders only go out when there's a meaningful amount to spend.
Only email subscribed customers — limit sends to customers subscribed to email marketing.
Right before each email is sent, the customer's live balance is checked again — anyone who spent their credit since the run started is skipped, so nobody is reminded about credit they no longer have.
There is no cross-run duplicate protection beyond the trigger window itself. A daily-repeating rule with a wide "issued a while ago" window (say 90 to 1 days ago) will email the same customers every day. Keep rolling windows narrow — one day wide is typical.
The email
Reminders use your Store Credit Reminders template. The email fills in each customer's name, current balance, and expiry date automatically; edit the design any time in the template editor, and changes apply from the next run. Every reminder includes an unsubscribe link.
Schedule
Reminders run on the same scheduling engine as scheduled automations: pick a start date, time, and timezone, then optionally a repeat cadence. One-time rules deactivate themselves after running; repeating rules stay active until you turn them off. As with scheduled automations, a rule activated up to 15 minutes after its start time still gets its first run. The expiry trigger works best on a daily repeat.
Activate the rule after saving — inactive rules never send. Each run is recorded in run history with how many customers matched, were emailed, were skipped, and failed, plus a per-customer log.
Limits
A single run stops if the trigger matches more than 10,000 customers — narrow the trigger.
Active reminder rules count toward your plan's active automation limit, like any other automation.
Emails sent count toward your plan's email allowance — 1,000 per billing period on Grow, 10,000 on Pro, resetting with your billing period. Store Credit Alert emails use the same allowance. A run that starts with nothing left is skipped; a run that hits the cap mid-way stops and records the remaining customers as skipped. See Plans & billing.
