# Plans & billing

Stork Credit's plans, what each one includes, and how billing works.

Manage your plan from **Plans** in the app navigation.

## Choosing a plan when you install

The first time you open Stork Credit, the **Plans** page is shown before anything else and you'll need to pick a plan before the rest of the app opens. It's step 1 of a two-step setup — the second step is a short question about how you plan to use store credit.

Choosing **Continue on Free** is a real choice, not a trial you have to escape. Free stays free indefinitely, and you can move up or down later from **Plans** at any time.

Paid plans start with a free trial where one is offered — the plan's button tells you how long, and the line beneath it tells you the date you'd first be charged. You approve the charge through Shopify, and you're returned to the app once it's confirmed.

{% hint style="info" %}
Already installed before this changed? Nothing happens to you — the plan you're on is the plan you keep, and the app opens straight to your home page as it always did.
{% endhint %}

## Switching between monthly and annual

The **Monthly** / **Annual** switch above the plan cards changes every paid plan at once, and the switch labels the saving annual billing gives you. The Free plan has no annual price, so it's unaffected by the switch.

{% hint style="info" %}
**Subscribed to "Unlimited" before it became Pro?** Your plan is grandfathered: automations, CSV imports, and Shopify Flow actions stay unlimited. Only the email allowance for reminders and Store Credit Alerts (10,000 a month) applies. Switching to another plan and back ends the grandfathering.
{% endhint %}

## How the limits work

### Automation types

Order value automations work on every plan. **Scheduled**, **Spend Threshold**, and **Store Credit Reminders** rules are available on the **Grow** and **Pro** plans: on Free they appear greyed out in the **Add automation** picker, labelled **Grow & Pro**, with a **See plans** button instead of a link, and an existing rule of one of those types can't be activated until you upgrade. If you open one of those rule forms directly, the form is shown greyed out so you can see its settings, but nothing on it can be changed or saved.

{% hint style="info" %}
Rules you built on a paid plan are never deleted when you move down to a smaller plan. If you have more active rules than the new plan allows, the next time you open the app the extra ones are deactivated so you stay within the limit: your oldest rules stay active and the most recently created are switched off, and on Free a Store Credit Reminder rule is switched off first. A notice lists the rules that were deactivated. To keep a different rule running, deactivate the active one on the **Automations** page and activate the one you want. Deactivated rules start working again when you reactivate them after upgrading.
{% endhint %}

### Delayed credit options

Order-value rules can [wait for fulfillment or a set time](/stork-credit/automations/order-value-automations.md#when-credit-is-issued) before issuing credit on paid plans. On Free the **Issuing** card on the rule form is greyed out, with a badge naming the plan that includes it. If you move down to Free, a rule that already waits keeps running but issues its credit as soon as the order is paid, and credit it was already holding is still issued when its wait ends.

### Reports and exports

[Reports](/stork-credit/reports/customers-store-credit.md) and credit exports are available on the **Grow** and **Pro** plans. On Free, the **Reports** page and the report form appear in full but greyed out and can't be changed, under a notice naming the plans that include them with a **See plans** button. Reports you generated on a paid plan stay listed, and can be downloaded again as soon as you upgrade. Reports don't count against any usage limit on a paid plan.

### External triggers

[External triggers](/stork-credit/integrations/external-triggers.md) — your store's private webhook endpoint — are available on the **Pro** plan only. On Free and Grow, the **Manage external triggers** link in **Settings** and the **External triggers** card on the home page are greyed out and labelled **Pro plan**, and the **External triggers** page itself is shown greyed out with its endpoint and secret hidden. Your endpoint and its secret are kept while you're on another plan, and start accepting requests again when you move to Pro.

### Referral codes

[Referral codes](/stork-credit/automations/referral-codes.md) are available on the **Grow** and **Pro** plans. They work on every Shopify plan with the Referral Code theme block and the Referral Code block on the Thank you page. The Referral Code checkout block needs a store on Shopify Plus. On Free, the **Referral codes** page appears in full but greyed out and can't be changed, under a notice naming the plans that include it with a **See plans** button. The codes themselves are kept and stay listed, but the theme and checkout blocks reject every code, and the Thank you page block is hidden, until you upgrade. Customer-tag eligibility on order-value rules works on every plan, so a rule can still reward customers who already carry a referral tag.

### Email templates

[Email templates](/stork-credit/emails/email-templates.md) are used by Store Credit Alert and Store Credit Reminder emails, which are sent on the **Grow** and **Pro** plans. On Free, the **Email templates** page and the template editor are shown greyed out, under a notice naming those plans. Changes you made to a template on a paid plan are kept.

### Shopify Flow credit

The [Stork Credit Flow action](/stork-credit/integrations/shopify-flow.md) works on **every plan**, including Free. Each plan includes up to **$1,000 of store credit issued through Flow per billing period**, in your store's currency.

Each plan also has a monthly number of Flow actions — **20** on Free, **50** on Grow, and **5,000** on Pro. Every credit the action issues counts as one. When the period's actions are used up, the action fails with a message naming the limit and the reset date, until the next period or until you upgrade.

Your usage is shown on the home page in the **Plan & usage** card, as **Flow actions** and **Flow credit issued**.

If your workflows issue credit in more than one currency, **Flow credit issued** lists a separate total for each currency instead of one combined figure. Amounts in different currencies are never added together. The allowance is in your store's currency, so only credit issued in that currency is shown against it.

{% hint style="info" %}
The $1,000 credit allowance is not applied automatically — going over it doesn't stop your workflows or change your bill. We review usage and get in touch if a store is consistently over it.
{% endhint %}

### Active automations

The cap counts automations with status **Active**. Inactive rules don't count, so you can keep any number of drafts and seasonal rules parked.

Deactivating a rule frees its slot immediately. A one-shot [scheduled automation](/stork-credit/automations/scheduled-automations.md) deactivates itself after it runs, releasing its slot automatically.

### CSV import rows

Checked against the file's data rows **before** an import starts. An oversized file is rejected outright, with nothing credited — so you can't half-import a file and lose track of where it stopped.

Split the file or upgrade. See [CSV import](/stork-credit/bulk-import/csv-import.md).

### Monthly limits

CSV imports and reminder emails are counted per **billing period** and reset when a new period starts:

* On a **monthly** plan, usage resets on the day Shopify bills you for the next month.
* On an **annual** plan, usage resets every month on the day of the month you subscribed.
* On the **Free** plan, usage resets every month on the day of the month you installed the app (or last changed plan).

The home page's **Plan & usage** card shows the exact date your usage resets next, how many days are left, and your usage against each limit.

* **CSV imports** — every file you upload counts as one import, whether or not it finishes. When the period's allowance is used up the **Start Import** button is disabled until the reset date, or until you upgrade.
* **Reminder emails** — each email sent by a [Store Credit Reminders](/stork-credit/automations/store-credit-reminder-emails.md) automation counts. A run that starts with nothing left is skipped; a run that hits the cap mid-way stops and records the rest as skipped.
* **Store Credit Alert emails** count toward the same allowance. They're sent by automations set to use the [Stork Credit email](/stork-credit/emails/email-templates.md#sending-the-store-credit-alert). When the allowance runs out, those customers get Shopify's store credit email instead, and their credit is still issued. Shopify's email never counts toward the allowance.
* **Flow credit** — the total value of store credit issued by the [Stork Credit Flow action](/stork-credit/integrations/shopify-flow.md), shown against your plan's allowance. Credit issued in several currencies is listed as one total per currency. Not applied automatically (see above).

Changing plans mid-period doesn't clear what you've already used: the new plan's cap applies to the usage counted so far, and the reset date moves to match the new plan's billing period.

## Billing

Billing runs through **Shopify**. Charges appear on your regular Shopify invoice — Stork Credit never handles your card details.

* Changing plans takes effect immediately.
* Moving down to **Free** cancels the active charge.
* Development and Partner test stores are never charged, and always create test charges.

### If a plan won't start

Occasionally Shopify declines to start a subscription — most often on a store that can only take test charges, when an existing charge can't be replaced, or when the plan was changed while the page was open. The Plans page stays where it is and shows a red banner with the reason Shopify gave.

{% hint style="info" %}
Reload the Plans page and try once more. If the same message comes back, send us the wording in the banner — it tells us exactly what Shopify objected to. [Contact support](/stork-credit/reference/support.md).
{% endhint %}

## What happens on the Free plan

Free is a real plan, not an expiring trial. Nothing switches off on a timer.

If you're on a paid plan with more than one active automation and move down to Free, the extra automations stay in place but the limit applies to activating new ones. Deactivate rules until you're within the cap to regain room to work.

Scheduled, Spend Threshold, and Store Credit Reminders rules, your external trigger endpoint, and any reports you've generated are all kept too — you just can't activate those rules, receive trigger requests, or generate new reports until you're back on a paid plan.
